The Firesteel was originally developed specifically for the Swedish army. It's the first fire starter made of magnesium, shaped like a rod. Using the included stainless steel scraper, it can produce sparks averaging 3000°C. A Firesteel Scout is good for 3,000 strikes, and a Firesteel Army is good for 12,000 strikes.

It performs even at extreme altitudes with oxygen-poor air and works just as well when wet. It can be used for countless applications, from lighting a gas stove to starting a campfire. New material as of 2019

This product is made of biobased plastic. With a view to a better future, Light My Fire has been using only biobased plastic for the production of its products since 2019. "Biobased" refers to materials made from biomass extracted from plant-based resources such as corn, sugarcane, and cellulose. The biobased range is recognizable by its new colors of natural, soft, earthy, and peaceful hues. 100% recyclable or reusable materials have also been chosen for packaging.
